UPDATES: CRESTCon 2016

CRESTCon, which was run in conjunction with IISP Congress again this year, saw a record number of delegates at over 400. The addition of a third stream and a bookshop both proved popular so we plan to further develop these for 2017. Our thanks to all of the speakers and the sponsors for helping to make it another successful event.

Big Bang Fair

CREST and HM Government have teamed up to encourage young people into the cyber security industry. As part of this initiative, CREST created an exhibition stand that aims to promote the vast range of career options within cyber security and show that there is an exciting and lucrative career out there for those who want it. The stand was debuted at the Big Bang Fair at the NEC Birmingham and will be used for future events. The event proved incredibly successful, reaching out to thousands of visitors, engaging with a balance of parents, teachers and children. School children visiting the stand were able to have a go at solving codes and puzzles and playing cyber games with the Cyber Security Challenge UK, as well as finding out about exciting and rewarding careers in cyber security.

A big thank you goes out to those who volunteered their time to help man the stand. In no particular order: Rob Partridge, Eleanor Murray and Matthew Barrot from BT; Brian Higgins from ISC2; Jules Pagna Disso, Dale Ruane and Graham Shaw from Nettitude; Steph Aldridge, Jess Williams, Will Bateman and Michael Ranaldo from Cyber Security Challenge; and William Clocksin and Stilianos Vidalis from Herts University for organising some students to help.

If you’re interested in engaging with the project in the future, please email: allie@crest-approved.org
