Canberra – 8 July 2025 – CREST, the global not-for-profit membership body representing the cyber security industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chathura Abeydeera, Principal from Anchoram Consulting, as Chair of the Australasia Regional Council. This leadership transition follows CREST’s triennial election cycle and underscores the organisation’s commitment to robust regional governance that enhances capability, capacity, consistency, and collaboration across the Australasia region.
Chathura Abeydeera is a seasoned cyber security leader with over 20 years of experience in offensive cyber security, threat management, and strategic risk. He holds multiple CREST certifications, including the CREST Certified Simulated Attack Manager (CCSAM) certification. The Australian Information Security Association (AISA) and CREST have recognised him as a Fellow for his contributions to the cyber security community.
The Australasia Council plays a pivotal role in representing member interests, guiding regional strategy, and contributing to CREST’s global direction through participation in the International Council. The newly elected members bring a wealth of expertise and represent a diverse cross-section of the cyber security industry:
