SUMMARY:Div0 x CREST Meetup 2025
DESCRIPTION:Post-event resources \nExploring bold ideas in Singapore’s cybersecurity ecosystem. \nOur second Division Zero (Div0) x CREST Meetup of the year brought together Singapore’s cyber community for an evening of unconventional thinking and real-world insights. \nPaul Craig\, CEO of Vantage Point Security Group\, showed how creative\, lateral thinking can crack problems traditional methods miss using an Ethereum private key challenge to illustrate the power of curiosity and hacker mindset. \nSandeep Hodkasia\, Founder and CEO of AppSecure Security\, shared how attacker psychology drives deeper\, more impactful penetration testing\, spotlighting discoveries like the Meta.AI prompt leak and WeWork data exposure. \nThank you to Div0 and our Member community for inspiring conversations and fresh perspectives. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n  \nThe next Div0 x CREST Meetup\, in partnership with our Community Supporter\, Division Zero (Div0)\, and CyberSG TIG Collaboration Centre! \nThis month\, we will be featuring two speakers from our Member community: \n– Paul Craig (CEO\, Vantage Point Security Group) takes on the impossible — attempting to break an Ethereum private key through pure creativity and hacker mindset. The odds of breaking an Ethereum private key based on an ECC curve within a 256bit field are roughly 1 in 115 quattuorvigintillion (115 and 75 zeros). In theory\, there is a higher chance that Paul cures cancer\, the world explodes\, and aliens land on earth. These incredible odds are his starting point\, armed with an attitude of “nothing is really impossible\, only incredibly difficult\,” Paul sets on the task of guessing a private key to find real cryptocurrency money using only creativity\, curiosity\, and a positive hacker attitude. Was he successful? Come see his talk and find out. \n– Sandeep H. (Founder & CEO\, AppSecure Security) shows how thinking like an attacker led to real-world discoveries — from Meta.AI’s prompt leak to WeWork’s data exposure. In this session\, Sandeep will share how a hacker-focused mindset has shaped his approach to penetration testing — moving beyond automated scans and compliance checks to real-world attack simulations that uncover impactful vulnerabilities. Sandeep will walk you through some of his notable findings\, including the Meta.AI prompt leak\, a WeWork data exposure\, and a Zomato blind XSS that escalated from a mobile app to the admin portal\, to illustrate how thinking like an attacker reveals what traditional testing often misses. He will also discuss how he applies red-team scenarios\, offensive research techniques\, and attacker psychology to identify critical security vulnerabilities and secure modern tech companies — from AI systems and APIs to complex cloud-native infrastructures. \nTo RSVP and confirm your attendance\, register on BOTH links below: \n🔗 Meetup Page: https://www.meetup.com/div0_sg/events/311850604/ \n🔗 Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfquNcX_rUqoyoOXcamhnNSyYi9ZCPbz7TxcmiTqZsM1Ft9ng/viewform \nAgenda \n\n6:30 PM: Registration & Networking (30mins)\n7:00 PM: Introduction & Announcement (15mins)\n7:15 PM: “y² = x³ + 7 (Breaking the Curve)” by Paul Craig (30mins)\n7:50 PM: “Hacker-Focused Penetration Testing: Harnessing Human Intelligence in the Age of AI” by Sandeep H. (30mins)\n8:25 PM: Q&A Discussion (15mins)\nTill Late: Networking\n\nSee you there!

SUMMARY:International Battle of Hackers (IBOH) 2025
DESCRIPTION:Post-event resources \nStrengthening academic collaboration in Malaysia. \nIn November\, we teamed up with the Forensic & Cybersecurity Research Centre at Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU / APIIT) in Malaysia as a prize sponsor for its International Battle of the Hackers (IBOH) competition. \nThe annual event provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills in solving real-world cybersecurity challenges\, fuel innovation in digital security\, and shape the next generation of cyber professionals. \nA huge congratulations to the winners and all who participated in the CTF competitions! We awarded CPSA exam vouchers to the top participants\, marking an encouraging step in their cybersecurity journey. \nThank you to our Malaysian Council Member\, Ts. Vikneswaran Kunasegaran\, for representing us at the event\, and to APIIT for the opportunity to partner and continue to drive meaningful industry-student engagement within the wider cyber community. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n  \nWe are a CTF Prize Sponsor at the International Battle of Hackets (IBOH) 2025! \nAbout the event \nAPU Forensic & Security Research Centre – Student Section (FSec-SS) will be organising an International Battle of Hackers (IBOH) 2025\, a grand-scale 6-hour Capture the Flag (CTF) competition under Asia Pacific University (APU). IBOH 2025 will be held for two (2) Saturdays in two (2) separate stages. \nBOH is a prestigious cybersecurity competition that has evolved over the years in Malaysia and worldwide. This annual event provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills in solving real-world cybersecurity challenges\, ranging from cryptography and reverse engineering to real-world web application exploits and many others\, to promote cybersecurity awareness\, encourage innovation in digital security\, and nurture the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. \nThis year\, the Forensic and Cybersecurity Research Centre – Student Section (FSEC-SS) aims to take the BOH namesake to the next level by officially introducing an Attack & Defense (AD) style CTF. The AD-style CTF simulates a real-world environment of a blue and red team scenario\, whereby participants will need to exploit vulnerable machines belonging to other teams\, all while they defend against attacks from said teams. \nStage 1 (Jeopardy-Style) will remain the highlight of IBOH 2025\, as it is expected to attract over 280 teams and 800 participants from more countries this year. The top 10 winners of Stage 1 will be selected for Stage 2 (Attack & Defense). \nStage 1 (Jeopardy-Style) \nThe competition aims to offer an entry-level CTF competition for students to compete and connect with each other. Students from various universities and countries participated in this competition\, allowing international bonding and camaraderie. In stage 1\, a Jeopardy-style CTF will be featured alongside our official opening ceremony with our sponsor’s representative. At the end of the session\, prizes will be given to stage 1 winners\, and the closing ceremony will be conducted. The top 10 finalists from stage 1 will be informed to advance to stage 2. A buffer of 2 weeks will be taken before stage 2 commences. \n\nDate: 8 November 2025\nVenue: Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU)\, Malaysia\n\nStage 2 (Attack & Defense) \nIn stage 2\, the top 10 finalists of stage 1 will participate in the Attack & Defense CTF\, which features offensive and defensive system security. The goal is to encourage players to identify and patch vulnerabilities within their systems while exploiting the vulnerabilities of other teams to gain points. \n\nDate: 29 November 2025\nVenue: Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU)\, Malaysia\n\nSee you there!
