SUMMARY:Seeking Assurance: Understanding the Artificial Intelligence Attack Surface
DESCRIPTION:Post-event resources\nLast week\, we had the pleasure of co-hosting an AI breakfast seminar with ISC2 in Auckland\, New Zealand. \nThank you to the expert panellists 👏 Antonia M.\, James Ting-Edwards\, and Austin Chamberlain\, who delivered thoughtful discussions and expert guidance on the topic of AI in managing your attack surface. \nWe want to thank our Australasia Chair\, Nigel Phair\, alongside Chris Hails and their teams for helping to organise this event. \n \n\nCREST and the ISC2 Chapter in Auckland are delighted to come together to host this breakfast seminar. \nCREST Australasia Chair\, Nigel Phair\, will MC this panel event\, with three expert panellists. \nYou can expect to hear from an expert panel of speakers who can bring you thoughtful discussions and expert guidance on the topic of AI in managing your attack surface. \nThere will be a complimentary breakfast for attendees. \nIntroducing our expert panel \nWe are delighted to share the expert panel of speakers confirmed so far. \nJames Ting-Edwards \nJames is a Senior Policy Advisor at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner\, where he is supporting work on AI and privacy. He has worked in digital policy in Aotearoa for nearly a decade\, with a focus on hearing from and working with people across a range of communities. James also loves theatre\, his wife\, and his dog\, but not necessarily in that order. \nAntonia Modkova \nAntonia is a patent attorney and lawyer with a BSc(Hons) in Computer Science\, specialising in Artificial Intelligence (AI). She is responsible for growing and managing the IP portfolio of Soul Machines\, an AI company developing lifelike and emotionally responsive avatars as a user interface for AI platforms. She loves exploring how new technologies\, particularly AI\, will push the boundaries of our current laws and legal practice. \nAustin Chamberlain \nAustin works as a research scientist in cybersecurity for Defence Science and Technology\, part of the New Zealand Defence Force. \nHe started his IT career in system administration\, working in academia and industry. His focus was on internet-facing systems\, virtualization\, and cloud services. Working on internet-facing systems meant progressively more focus on information security\, and he soon made the jump to full-time cybersecurity. He worked for several years as the technical lead for the cybersecurity team at University College London. \nAustin joined the British Army Reserve in 2005 and served in several roles\, including an operational deployment to Afghanistan\, before transferring to the Joint Forces Cyber Group. In this role\, he took part in multiple cybersecurity exercises and operations in the UK and abroad. In 2018\, Austin moved to New Zealand to take up the science role for the New Zealand Defence Force. This involves developing current NZDF cyber capability and research into next-generation and generation-beyond-next technologies. \nCybersecurity education is a matter dear to Austin’s heart. He has completed an MSc in Information Security at University College London and holds several certifications from ISC2 and SANS. He serves as a committee member for the OWASP NZ Chapter and will reliably be at cybersecurity conferences and events in Auckland and Wellington. In his free time\, Austin likes trail marathons\, which\, like cybersecurity\, involve a great deal of effort and pain.
