CREST is an international not-for-profit, membership body representing the global cyber security industry.
Our goal is to help create a secure digital world for all by quality assuring our members and delivering professional certifications to the cyber security industry.
We accredit 300 member companies, operating across dozens of countries, and certify thousands of professionals worldwide. We work with governments, regulators, academe, training partners, professional bodies and other stakeholders around the world.
Our members undergo a rigorous quality assurance process and employ competent professionals. Organisations buying their cyber security services from our members do so with confidence.
CREST builds capability, capacity, consistency and collaboration in the global cyber security industry through services that nurture, measure and enhance the performance of individuals and organisations.
Capability – We develop and measure the capability of the cyber security industry.
Capacity – We work across the industry to grow the pipeline of cyber security expertise.
Consistency – We set global standards for cyber security organisations to deliver a consistently high quality of service.
Collaboration – We develop and engage with the global cyber security community to leverage our shared knowledge and capabilities for the benefit of all.
We have regional chapters covering the Americas, Asia, Australasia, EMEA as well as the United Kingdom which is our founding chapter.
It is a devolved structure based on elected Regional Councils representing member companies operating in those regions. Central services are provided by CREST International.
We were established in 2006 in response to the need for more regulated professional cyber security services.
At the outset, our membership was UK-based and numbered a handful of founding companies. Our earlier development was focused largely on the UK where we worked closely with the UK Government, it’s security agencies as well as regulatory bodies in finance, civil aviation, telecommunications and national infrastructure to support frameworks and standards in cyber security.
Since then we have grown steadily in response to demand for our services. We now engage with governments, regulators and cyber security companies around the world. Our membership currently stands at 300 organisations, operating across dozens of countries and regions. We expect continued growth in our membership over the coming years.
