Special Arrangements for Candidates

CREST will provide reasonable special arrangements, also known as “Accommodations.  These accommodations ensure a fair and equal opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the essential functions being measured by CREST examinations.Reasonable accommodations will provide candidates with special arrangements to address conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and other medical conditions that, for example, justify the allocation of additional time.All reasonable special accommodation requests must be received by CREST at least four weeks in advance of a candidate wishing to book to sit a specific exam. Reasonable accommodations are decided upon based on the individual’s specific disability or condition, supporting documentation provided, specific request and appropriateness of the request.

Reasonable accommodations do not include actions that fundamentally alter the purpose or nature of the examination.  Reasonable accommodations are generally provided for candidates  who:

  • have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits that person in one or more major life activities (eg. walking, talking, hearing and performing manual tasks;
  • have a record of such a physical or mental impairment;  or
  • are regarded as having a physical or mental impairment.

To apply for reasonable special accommodations, a candidate must submit a written request accompanied by supporting documentation on official letter head from their health care provider that explains the nature of the disability or condition and specifies the exact accommodation(s) needed and email it to [email protected]  or [email protected].  Requests must be received and approved BEFORE you book your exam.  This is particularly important for those examinations delivered via Pearson Vue.
