CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD OF FELLOWSHIP OF CREST
“The recognition of an individual for their achievement or contribution”
1. THE AWARD
A Fellowship of CREST may be awarded to individuals who:
1.1 Are distinguished by their work and professionalism in support of the development and maintenance of a particular discipline or disciplines of CREST over a continual period of five years or more; and/or
1.2 Re-qualify in their chosen discipline at CREST Certified level on three consecutive full-term re-certification intervals. For the avoidance of doubt, this means an individual that has held a Certified level qualification for a continuous period of nine years (or more); and/or
1.3 The CREST Fellowship Awards Panel wishes to honour an individual for services rendered to CREST and whose association is of significant and sustained benefit to CREST.
2. TENURE
2.1 Fellowship status is granted for life unless revoked under the provisions of clause 3.1(ii).
2.2 Individuals awarded a Fellowship may relinquish their Fellowship at any time.
3. CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE
3.1 Individuals who accept the CREST Fellowship award will be able to use the designation FCREST and must abide by the following conditions:
(i) The Fellowship cannot be used as a representation of ability to engage in technical information security practices;
(ii) The Fellowship Awards Panel reserve the right to revoke the Award for any reason deemed appropriate or if, in their opinion, the individual acts in any way as to bring CREST or the technical information security industry into disrepute. Their decision in these circumstances cannot be challenged.
4. BENEFITS FOR FELLOWS
(i) The ability to use the CREST Fellowship title in personal and business activities, subject to the provisions of Clause 3.
(ii) Complimentary personal invitation to attend CRESTCon events, typically in the Fellow’s country of residence;
(iii) Personal invitation to participate in other CREST events;
(iv) Opportunity to engage in other events attended by CREST;
(v) Advisory capacity, as appropriate.
5. THE CREST FELLOWSHIP AWARDS PANEL
The Awards Panel will comprise:
(i) CREST (International) President
(ii) CREST (International) CEO
(iii) CREST (International) Head of Cyber Skills & Certifications
(iv) The Chairs of the CREST (International) Councils
(v) CREST Focus Group Chairs (or Vice-Chairs, if delegated by Chair)

(i) Overall Fellowship programme: Head of Cyber Skills & Certifications
(ii) Governance / processes: Head of Governance & Legal
(iii) Fellowship community engagement: Head of Marketing & Engagement
7. PROCEDURE FOR NOMINATIONS
7.1 Nominations for Fellowship awards will be opened twice a year at a time agreed by the Fellowship Awards Panel. The online form must be used for submissions.
7.2 Notification of the awards window will be issued prior to the agreed dates for nominations and will include general marketing channels, social media, newsletters, etc.
7.3 Individuals should be nominated by a third party. For the avoidance of doubt, such parties include, but are not limited to, the CREST (International) management team, the CREST Regional Councils, CREST Focus Group Chairs, any CREST certification holder and any CREST member company’s primary point of contact.
7.4 Individuals may not nominate themselves.
7.5 The CREST secretariat will ensure that the criteria for CREST Fellowships are satisfied by the individual being proposed. If the criteria are not met, the party making the nomination will be informed. See also Clauses 7.3 and 7.4.
7.6 When submitting a nomination against the criteria at Clause 1.1 or at Clause 1.3, as much relevant information as possible should be provided to assist the Awards Panel in making an informed judgement on the merits of the nomination received.
7.7 The names of the individuals who have been awarded and have accepted a CREST Fellowship will be announced at a CREST event agreed by the Fellowship Awards Panel.
7.8 There will be no cost incurred for either nominating an individual or accepting the Fellowship Award.
7.9 There will be no restriction on the number of Fellowships that may be awarded in a single year.
8. SELECTION PROCESS
8.1. CREST Head of Governance & Legal will receive submissions and review nominations for compliance with the criteria against which they have been nominated.
8.2. Individuals nominated under the criteria at Clause 1.2 will be sent to Head of Cyber Skills & Certifications and/or Certifications team for validation.
8.3. Nominees not meeting criteria will be rejected and the individual making the nomination will be notified by the Head of Governance & Legal.
8.4. Eligible entries under all criteria will be distributed to Awards Panel at least one week before each six-monthly meeting.
8.5. Awards Panel will review all submissions and reach their decision. Where appropriate, the Panel may follow up and/or verify the information provided in the application. The rationale for acceptance or rejection will be recorded.
8.6. The decision of the Awards Panel will be final.
8.7. The individual making the nomination will be notified of the decision.
8.8. If successful, the nominee will be informed of the award and at that point will be invited to confirm their acceptance of the award.
